Hydraulic Release Shackles
IHC Handling Systems most extensive product line is hydraulic release shackles.
Our hydraulic release shackles range from 35 - 1200 Tonnes and are used in situations where there is no possibility to unhook the load, weither this is a big height or water depths up to 3000m.
Hydraulic release shackles consist of a hydraulic part and either a standard shackle or wide body shackle. Hydraulic cylinder and mechanical construction are attached to the shackles without effecting the construction of the shackle.
This is of major importance, as physical modifications to the shackle structure may effect the load certificate.
Most of our shackle systems we supply are modifications to existing customer shackles. Our customers send their shackles and we convert these into hydraulically operated versions.
Standard hydraulic release shackles are operated from the surface to a maximum water depth of 300m. Hydraulic systems always consists of a manual override option in case a hydraulic failure occurs.
In addition, hydraulic release shackles can be equipped with an ROV back up system or can, for deep waters, even be modified into a fully autonomic ROV operated unit.
