Tunnelling Machines

IHC has supplied tunnelling machines to all major Dutch tunnelling contractors. These specially designed 'moles' vary in diameter from 500 to 2500 mm. Pipes made from concrete, synthetic material or steel follow the drilling head.
At the pit mouth pipe segments are fed in. The complete tube is continuously pushed by hydraulic force to assure it follows the mole.
In a congested country like Holland this type of drilling is a cheap and efficient way to cross major obstacles such as canals, waterways, buildings and so forth.
